Extract from the critical text by Federica Forti.
A chicken’s foot, 2 drops of Chanel N°5, two crucified feet, a helmet, white Carrara, pink Portuguese, yellow Siena marble. Objects cast aside by others, abandoned, which once retrieved by the artist become small poetic gems.
Subdued and exquisite, as delicate as a newly bloomed flower, yet simultaneously edgy like the riff of an electric guitar, the expressiveness of sculptor Corrado Marchese – born in Padoa, but elected to Carrara for love of the material – is revealed through a selection of pieces pertaining to this very pursuit.
Stone winds into coils enveloping bones and candles – a symbol of time washing over ruins, while our feet stay anchored to the ground, and flowers bloom, rebirthing.
